The New Bonnyrigg
In 2005 the community said: 'We want Bonnyrigg to be a vibrant, healthy, safe and friendly neighbourhood where everyone has opportunities'.
In response to this feedback, Newleaf Communities has undertaken to:
- build better community services and facilities.
- build on existing community strengths.
- build a better, safer design (no more 'Radburn' layouts).
- build cleaner, safer parks, open space and pedestrian networks with better facilities and lighting.
- build a total of 2,330 new modern homes.
- build a new multipurpose community centre with plans to include a meeting place, a commercial component and the Newleaf office.
- provide a mixture of housing types to suit different ages, families and needs while retaining a suburban feel.
- build modern high quality homes that makes the most of outdoor space.
- include best practice in environmental design.
- meet changing needs as residents age or become less mobile. provide employment and training opportunities for local people from within and around Bonnyrigg.
